Home Sweet Home - WIP #2

I continued to block in the main colors of their home, shutters, windows and yard(see previous post for the first stage). I also began to paint the cycle's pedal and its reflections. The main colors being used right now are ultramarine blue and manganese for the sky reflections, perinone orange, quinachrodone orange and burnt sienna with a little ultramarine in shadows for the stucco color and hookers green, transparent yellow, and quinachrodone rose in the garden area. The grays were made with ultramarine mixed with sienna and various mixtures left over in my palette.

Home Sweet Home - WIP #1

My son-in-law bought a new Yamaha bike and it was dazzling sitting in front of their home in the sun. I was taken with the reflections in the shiny metal. Often when I paint a painting, I agonize over a title and usually the end result isn't very clever. By I knew what I wanted to title this painting even before I began the sketching process of "Home Sweet Home". I wanted the reflections of my daughter's home to be a focal point of the composition, so after I sketched the bike and the distorted contours, I immediately began to add the color of their home and the sky. I knew if I didn't start with these main colors, I could easily lose my place in the complicated drawing.
