Self-Portrait

Thought I'd do a self-portrait and had a bit of fun with it. But painting in front of a mirror isn't my cup of tea, though I used a mirror reference for several stages. Instead... I made faces at my camera!

I began with glazing color. That was the one thing I knew I wanted - lots of fun color. But the jaw was drawn funky. I didn't notice it until I sent a copy to my mom. Even with watercolor, you can fix a problem.

My husband said it captures my personality. It was a hoot doing one as I'd never done one before. I did know, however, that I didn't want a traditional portrait-face.

Enjoy.

Debbie, Your portrait is so great.. Every artist should do that of themselves.

I truly like the way you did this.

*grin* I love the look.

Sure missed the opportunity to hang out with you this summer. Maybe next year you could have a painting trip to southeastern Ohio? Say, mid-June?
