I need to stop for the day because I have dinner plans tonight, but I wanted to upload progress on my brown pelican. This guy is shaping up... I love the subtle shifts of color that are happening. I wish the camera could pick up that shift. It is almost as if I am caressing this guy as I paint the thin layers of hues. I spent extra time getting his eye correct. I wanted him looking straight at the viewer. That way, as the viewer moves around the room it will look as if he's following them. Down at the marina, when I was taking this fellow's picture, he stood very still, watching me. It was mesmerizing and I wanted to try to capture that pose.Friday, February 12, 2010
W.I.P. 26"x20" Brown Pelican
