Grapes Durand - cont.

More glazes of various reds were added to the red decanter while cherries are continuing their build-up of pigment for deeper, richer saturation of color. Various shades of "palette mud", grays made by mixing paints used in the painting are added to the crystal reflections, as well as bouncing blues and greens from the Venitian glass vase. Neutral pigment mixtures in the crystal will help highlight and balance the pure color refractions. Shadows are being worked on the table cloth, using the same pigments for a unification of color. A neutral gray was mixed and placed under the folds of the cloth to begin to show movement of the cloth edge. This painting will continue with layers and glazes for a subtle build up of color.
