W.I.P. - Ishtar/Aprhodite 26"x20"
Those of you that know me socially, know I have a small collection of Middle Eastern and African drums and I love to hand drum in drum circles and for belly dancers. I don't get much of a chance to do that any more and really miss it. So today I was listening to some good drumming music in the art studio and decided it was time to paint a belly dancer. I first want to send a shout out to all my belly dancer friends up north... sure do miss you all!! And a special shout of to my fellow drummers. This will be a fun painting to do because of all the wonderful folds in the scaves and fabrics and the fun patterns that these costumes make. This particular dancer is one I used to watch in south Louisiana. She is a beautiful, graceful, dancer... but I never really knew her name. I'll connect with some drumming friends of mine and see if I can hunt down this lovely goddess so I can send her a print of this painting when it is completed. Sorry for the bad photo - it was late at night in my studio when I took this picture.
