Bodhisattva Seated - 22"x15"
This was a quickie I did in about two hours yesterday. My husband enjoys reading Buddhist meditations so I painting this for his office. I wanted something loose with lots of color to brighten the room, yet still retain a peaceful, meditative feel. This original statue is housed at the Phoenix Art Museum, where I saw it on our trip to Phoenix a couple of years ago. Pigments used: new gamboge, quin coral, phthalo blue, indanthrone, undersea green, dioxazine violet, quin gold, peacock blue, ultramarine blue, ultramarine violet, permanent alizarin, and perylene maroon. I used so many colors because I didn't have the luxury of mixing pigments as I go. I knew it would be fast and loose, so I chose to used various pre-mixed pigments.
