Iris of Lavender - WIP2

I wish I had a better photo than this. If I get a chance to re-shoot it, I will. This is the left bottom corner of the painting. I started blocking in the darker areas of the iris, but with a light value hue. Because I draw my compositions so lightly, I will often block in my dark shapes lightly so that I don't lose sight of my linework. Then I will continue to lightly glaze color, building up pigment slowly. If my darker areas begin to get lost, I will give them a glaze to move them one value darker.
